Dubai’s hottest new restaurants of 2021 are arriving from around the globe.

Every month, an array of new restaurants arrive for Dubai diners to feast their eyes – and appetites – on. We’ve collected the scoop on where to eat & drink this season.

THE HOTLIST

FI’LIA

In the newly opened SLS Dubai, their signature Mediterranean concept Fi’lia debuts as a fully female-led restaurant. The opening of Fi’lia Dubai marks the fourth location worldwide and the very first in the Middle East for the concept, led by chef Sara Aqel and her team of talented women.

Fi’lia celebrates a genuine approach to Italian cuisine with a hint of Mediterranean influence, presenting a menu inspired by the formulas and traditions that were passed on from one generation of women to the next.

Fi’lia adds modern touches to the Italian-Mediterranean meals from seabass served with a crunchy feta and herbs crust to beef tartare dressed with egg yolk jam and pecans. Naturally, pizza is a must at this stylish eatery – baked freshly with handmade dough.

MYRRA BY OPA

The sister restaurant to Downtown Dubai’s playful Opa, well-known for its lively ambience including zorba-dancing and plate-smashing, Myrra by Opa is bringing a taste of idyllic island dining to those longing for the laid-back lifestyle of the ever-alluring Mediterranean.

Bringing a fusion of flavours from the sun-soaked coastal shores of Greece and Spain to the Palm Jumeirah, the feel is definitely authentic, an ode to the welcoming tavernas and old-fashioned tapas bars that dot the shores of Spain and Greece’s enchanting islands.

Traditional all-time favourites including oysters and grilled calamari are among the flavourful seafood options, complimented by a modern twist on the classic paella.

TIME OUT MARKET DUBAI

The first Time Out Market in the Middle East is a fact and promises a curated line-up of 17 of the city’s finest home-grown culinary heroes in the heart of Downtown Dubai’s iconic Souk Al Bahar.

Taking their place among Dubai’s culinary greats are chef Reif Othman, bringing his much-admired unconventional Japanese street food concept, Reif Japanese Kushiyaki; and Fulvio Opalio, head chef of Orange Hospitality, the creators of ever-popular Dubai restaurants Il Borro Tuscan Bistro and Alici, who presents an innovative new Italian concept, Fulvio’s.

HUNTER & BARREL

Hunter & Barrel is a high-end yet casual dining concept from Australia. This concept is well-versed in hunt, gather and fire-inspired culinary fundamentals, and it’s now bringing them all together at Vida Emirates Hills.

Steak lovers are in for a treat with the extensive Steak Programme menu, which features an array of cuts including fillet, rump, rib-eye and sirloin, as well as 1.3kg tomahawk or 700g angus T-bone designed to be shared.

Elsewhere on the menu, theatrically presented charcoal roasted skewers are a Hunter & Barrel signature, with selections including chicken thigh, rosemary wagyu & wild caught salmon and garlic, or a nod to regional flavours with a five grains kebab and hummus tahini dip.

ZETA SEVENTY SEVEN

Home to a record-breaking rooftop pool, ZETA Seventy Seven is now welcoming guests to enjoy masterfully created modern Asian fusion fare against the backdrop of intense views across the city’s glittering skyline.
A minimum spend policy is in place for lunch, dinner and the cabanas: there’s an AED 700 minimum spend on tables of up to 4 from 10am until 5pm, which increases to AED 1,000 from 6pm onwards. Private cabanas are priced from AED 7,777 and are bookable for up to 7 guests.

MIMI KAKUSHI

Mimi Kakushi is now open at the Four Seasons Jumeirah Restaurant Village with an obsession into the avant-garde oriental age of Osaka’s glamorous 1920s.

The new restaurant promises to fuse the flavours of the East with the rhythms of the West, presenting a menu of playful Japanese cuisine with an inviting open kitchen against the backdrop of sultry leathers, and a cool jazz soundtrack.

Innovative twists on the menu transform well-known Japanese favourites, with perfectly presented plates of sushi and sashimi, colourful gyozas and sizzling tempuras. Signature dishes include a very special Kagoshima Wagyu beef and oven-baked black cod, varied dessert selection paired with an artfully crafted mixed drinks menu.

LA FABBRICA

La Fabbrica Italiana offers a menu of just three items and is Dubai’s first and only family run focacceria. Dedicated to the creation of authentic and purely Italian focaccia, its menu features an array of foccacia, burrata; and tisamisu.

Offering a flavour of Italian cuisine that has been around for more than 2000 years, these recipes are replicated with care in the new focacceria based in Wasl 51.

PHILEAS FOGG'S DUBAI

The newest family-friendly and super-sized Phileas Fogg’s at the Montgomery Golf Club is an all-inclusive drinking and dining space inspired by Mr Foggs’ global adventures.

Five distinct areas welcome guests: Fogg’s Sports Pub & Terrace, a children’s play area, The Orangery Restaurant & The Arena, the latter two of which will open soon. Diners are invited to delve into a menu inspired by the famed travels of its namesake – Phileas Fogg’s – highlighting an array of pub classics with global twists: the humble pizza is topped with Hoisin Duck and British classics like fish and chips are presented in a burger.

LUCKY FISH

Lucky Fish is the newest address bringing a slice of the Mediterranean to Dubai. The new restaurant at Palm West Beach promises a laid-back, coastal holiday style experience, with delicious Mediterranean flavours and a lively ambience that welcomes a cosmopolitan crowd for long lazy sunny lunches that turn into evenings under the stars.

Like you used to expect from the Palm West Beach neighbours, Lucky Fish boasts a stunning outdoor terrace spotted with cabanas and sofas that spills onto the beach, back dropped by the twinkling Dubai. Inside, glamorous touches such as glittering chandeliers and plush fabrics compliment bright, rustic interiors in neutral hues and welcome greenery.
