The lodge is beautiful, the suites are spacious and modern and the views are breathtaking. It’s a wonderful and luxurious place, but may lack the sense of community you find at camps such as Savute Under Canvas
Sandibe is far from your traditional-style safari camp. Hand-crafted from local wood and reed, the main area was inspired by the scaled body of a pangolin and the private suites are evocative of a weaver bird’s nest.
Floor-to-ceiling windows provide mesmerising views of the delta, which can be accessed throughout the year despite rising water.
If you’re looking for the best in delta viewing and a luxurious and intimate base camp with all the trimmings, Sandibe is calling.
Interpretive bush walks are in the care of a local bushman guide. This is your chance to learn traditional bush skills: like making rope from grasses, how to construct traps or just sit down and watch them.
Elephants have walked the meandering paths by the camp for hundreds of years. Perhaps moved by this, the lodge has been built with a commitment to “treading lightly on the earth”. No trees were felled in its construction; instead, the cottages were built in a natural clearing. Their roofs are thatched, but that is where the resemblance to a usual cottage ends
Accessible only by scheduled flights from Johannesburg to Maun or Kasane, followed by a 30-minute flight from Maun, or a 1.5-hour flight from Kasane and a short drive to the camp
